Morocco is a country with a unique and diverse mix of cultures. This beautiful way of life blends Arabic, French, and Spanish influences. These people are known as Berbers or Amazighs. The Moroccan dialect of Arabic is called Darija. Celebrations are a big deal in Morocco. The famous moussems, which are religious celebrations, are a major event which brings Moroccans together. Also recommended is the Essaouira Gnaouas festival. Through these events, international students have the opportunity to interact with and immerse themselves in the diverse cultures that make Morocco such a rich and diverse country.

Religion

Moroccans are mostly Sunni Muslims of the Maliki rite, which is the official state religion. Religious freedom is protected by Moroccan law. Most Moroccans are Muslims.
There are no indigenous Christians in the country, and its Jewish population has dwindled to a few thousand. The majority of the population is Muslim, and they are all Sunni Muslims.

Music and Dance

Depending on the region, different types of music are most widely enjoyed. Moroccan music consists of six main genres: Berber music, Chaabi, Gnawa, Malhun, Rai, and Sufi music.
It varies and is diverse from one region to another as well as by social grouping. The Arab music style, the Mediterranean music style, west African music, and many others are all influenced by the music of various regions.

Sport

Several Moroccan teams have qualified for the World Cups and Africa Cup of Nations finals. When it comes to soccer, Morocco is one of the African powerhouses. In addition to handball, golf, tennis, basketball, and athletics, there are other sports codes. At the 2004 summer Olympics, Morocco won two gold medals.

Clothing

A Moroccan’s clothing is an important part of their etiquette. Morocco is a country that takes great pride in its clothing. Among Moroccans, clothes that cover private parts of the body are highly valued. Moroccans are mainly Muslim, so they dress conservatively. It is not encouraged for either women or men to wear clothes that are above the knee.
